This is the week of Easter. Themes of Jesus’ suffering on Calvary, his death for human sins, his resurrection, were a large part of Gospel song, seemingly year-round. We have a brief feature with songs about the passion of Jesus and its meaning for Christians. Also on the program a bit of R&B from the crescent city, more blues from St. Louis. And a lot more in two hours.

Blues and Rhythm Show 305 on 93.3 CFMU (Hamilton, Ontario)

Swear to Tell the Truth for Tuesday, January 26, 2021 (10:00 to 12:00 noon)

In the second half of this week’s program we devote time to a feature on the Paramount label, the label of Ma Rainey, Ida Cox, Blind Lemon, Blind Blake, Charlie Patton and Skip James, to name just a few of the artists who appeared almost exclusively on Paramount. This is the third of a series of features profiling Paramount and it covers a period that begins in 1925 and ends before the fall if 1926. Although Paramount recorded a lot of jazz, quite a bit of Gospel, some country and vocal groups, most of this week’s feature is made up of blues recordings.

Also, on the show, a few songs about the outbreak of the Korean War, a bit of Country Gospel and a bit of Soul.
